![]() I hoped it would be the great experience that the other tour was and indeed that was the case.įirst, we had Wendy again as our guide. Due to schedule issues, this time we needed to book the Taste of the Port Culinary Walking Tour. We had taken the Savor Kennebunkport trolley tour last year (see my review on it) and would repeat that tour in a heartbeat when entertaining visitors, as it was outstanding. Maine Foodie Tours has always given us a fun and memorable experience. We’ve also done most of the tours the company offers in Portland and look forward to checking out the ones in Bar Harbor and its newest market, Rockland. In addition to all of the goodies you get during the tour, we also received coupons for discounts and freebies at other establishments not included on the walking tour, and a Maine Foodie Tour bag. And it’s obvious that Wendy is well-liked and highly regarded by the proprietors of all the places the tour visits, ensuring a warm welcome at every stop. Happily, though, food (and beer!) is served, and it’s good stuff – clam chowder (which our California foodie friends declared to be the best they’d ever had) fresh lobster (served up with interesting, informative commentary) whoopie pie cheese spreads artisanal vinegars and oils with fruits and veggies amazing, unique ice creams and more. Wendy is such an entertaining, fun person that it would almost be worth the money just to walk around this charming town with her for the duration of the tour, even if no food was served! One of the things that was the same, luckily, was our guide – Wendy. It was another winner! The stops included some of the same ones we had visited previously, along with some new ones. ![]() ![]() When we were planning things to do with some visiting friends recently, this was one of the activities we definitely wanted to have on the itinerary. We took the Kennebunkport Culinary Walking Tour in 2013 and had a great time. This tour is both a visual and a culinary delight, well worth the time and money. Also a big plus – finding parking in Kennebunkport in the summer can be a challenge, but foodie tour members are allowed to park for free in one of the parking lots of the Colony Hotel, where the trolley will pick you up (there are 2 additional trolley stops, as well). I understand that our group was the largest one they’d ever had (just over 20 people, I think), but things still flowed very smoothly. Since you get both, I feel this is an outstanding deal. I think that either the food alone, or just being able to visit the inns alone, would almost have been worth the price of the tour. Germain cocktail oysters, smoked salmon, crackers and brie with a blueberry mead spritzer and fabulous blueberry squares with lemonade at our last stop. Our foodie treats included a mini lobster roll with a wine spritzer a unique and delicious scallop canapé with a St. They were all beautiful and we were treated very graciously at each one. The four places we visited on our tour were the Cape Arundel Inn the Colony Hotel the Nonamtum Resort and the Captain Jefferds Inn. We were guided around this lovely coastal town on our neat trolley by the highly entertaining and informative Wendy and Ed.įour different inns/resorts are visited on each tour (from a possible list of seven), and you are warmly greeted by a representative of the establishment who provides interesting commentary on the history of the inn, then treats you to a delicious appetizer and signature cocktail. We were looking for new activities to entertain out-of-town guests with, and are so glad we tried the Savor Kennebunkport Culinary Trolley Tour.
